Lake Spirit flute
The Lake Spirit is an unusual Native flute. Perfected by Werner John during a decade of experimentation, this is an eight-hole wide bore flute which plays in perfect tune, including chromatic notes, over the wide span of an octave and a sixth. Its tone is rich and deep. The extra hole for each hand gives performers and composers extended possibilities in terms of both range and modulation. The Lake Spirit plays easily in F minor pentatonic with standard Native flute fingerings, and in A minor pentatonic with an alternate fingering pattern (see Lake Spirit fingering chart). It's a beautiful and versatile flute well worth getting to know over many years. The flute comes with complete chromatic fingering chart, protective tube and a sheet of improvisation hints.
