New music for Thanksgiving
in tribute to Standing Rock and all those who can see beyond our divisions
Wouldn't it be great to see humans of widely different viewpoints coming together in appreciation of the human qualities we all share and in thanks for this beautiful Earth that gives us life. This is how some view the American holiday of Thanksgiving, as an opportunity for healing of separation from each other and nature. Since both Native American and early European music are close to my heart I'm composing a Thanksgiving Suite in this spirit of harmony.
Here are some sketches hearkening back musically to the 1620s, the years of the Pilgrims' arrival. The three movements blend Native flute, drum, harpsichord and cello along with a voice track at the end. Feel free to listen here or download (you'll need good speakers to hear the drum as intended).
